Special Shanghai Report

April 8, 2022

The impact of the lockdowns in China as result of COVID outbreaks has become a sizable issue for moving household goods and shipping in general. Currently there are lockdowns in Shanghai that were set to end earlier this week, however, our partners are reporting they could be extended for at least another two weeks.

This lockdown prohibits people from leaving their home, which includes the crews. This is also causing productivity losses at the ports there, to the point that ships and planes are skipping the city all together. A similar occurrence two years ago was a part of the cause of the global shipping crisis and current events will make shipping even more challenging.

For those that do need to leave without their goods, exceptions are being made with regards to export clearance in these situations. Please let us know if you need assistance with this.

Please let us know if you have any questions or would like additional information.
